Citizens for Pennsylvania's Future (PennFuture)
Company Overview
PennFuture works to create a just future where nature, communities and the economy thrive. We enforce environmental laws and advocate for the transformation of public policy, public opinion and the marketplace to restore and protect the environment and safeguard public health. PennFuture advances effective solutions for the problems of pollution, sprawl and global warming; mobilizes citizens; crafts compelling communications; and provides excellent legal services and policy analysis.
PennFuture and its Center for Energy, Enterprise and the Environment work with a collaboration of energy providers, policy makers, environmental activists, local communities and consumers to create the best possible scenario for the new energy future.
PennFuture works on a variety of issues from providing technical assistance to developers of renewable energy projects to assuring the proper implementation of Pennsylvania’s new Alternative Energy Portfolio Standards Act. We are speeding Pennsylvania’s transition from an outmoded energy model that pollutes the environment and drains natural resources, to one that is clean and renewable.
The Center for Energy, Enterprise and the Environment develops new business models and key collaborations to move technology to reality. Wind developments, large and small, have been helped by the Center’s business acumen and willingness to engage elected officials and their constituents. The Center has worked to bring new technologies to farms and cities, expanding the availability and feasibility of renewable energy development.
PennFuture is committed to making Pennsylvania better today and for future generations. We regard a degraded environment as an impediment to social and economic progress. We refuse to accept our current environmental condition and dedicate ourselves to changing it.

What is PennFuture doing?
* We're working to replace old, outdated dirty sources of power with clean, renewable Pennsylvania-made electricity.
* We're fighting factory farm pollution.
* We're helping to stop damage from mining and drilling.
* We're protecting watersheds from sprawl and pollution.
* We're reducing global warming pollution.
* We're watchdogging state government.
* We're providing $2 million per year of free legal services to protect the environment.
PennFuture has many victories and
stands toe-to-toe with some mighty opponents.
* We stood up to polluters and fought for a strong state rule to clean up toxic mercury pollution from the Commonwealth's power plants.
* We lead the fight for passage of a new law that requires the state's electricity providers to supply ever larger amounts of renewable energy to their customers.
* We won $80 million to support clean, renewable electricity in utility cases.
* We convinced Governor Rendell to support a nearly $1 billion bond issue for environmental funding.
* We save water, streams, parks and undeveloped pristine areas around the Commonwealth.
